The CHIPSEN BoT-TMA50 Long-Distance Bluetooth module is a Class 1 (+20dBm) cost-effective, low-power, true system-on-chip (SoC) for Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth low energy) applications. Integrating the BoT-TMA50 into your design enables robust BLE master and slave nodes to be built with very low total bill-of-material costs while greatly simplifying and streamlining the design and certification process.

BoT-TMA50 combines an excellent RF transceiver with an industry-standard enhanced Cortec-M4 CPU, in-system programmable 512 kB flash memory, 128kB RAM, and many other powerful supporting features and peripherals.

The BoT-TMA50 is suitable for systems where very low power consumption is required. Very low-power sleep modes are available. Short transition times between operating modes further enable low power consumption.

Bluetooth Connection Methods

BoT-TMA50 1:8 Multicon Mode

The BoT-TMA50 can be set to either master mode, slave mode, or Multicon mode.

When operating in Multicon mode, various functions can be performed using AT commands:

  • Communicate individually by selecting only specific Slaves
  • Communicate with all Slaves (up to 8 units) simultaneously
  • Search/auto-connect by specifying the "Name" of a specific Slave
  • Up to 8 Slaves can be registered for convenient use

In this configuration the BoT-TMA50 Master will attempt to connect to the BoT-TMA50 Slaves. If each Slave accepts the request, the connection is successful.

When communicating between modules there must be a Master and one or more Slaves. Modules operating in the same roles cannot communicate with each other, i.e. two Slaves cannot communication with each other.

Smartphones and other Bluetooth Masters to BoT-TMA50 Slave Modules

The BoT-TMA50 Slaves will advertise their device information. They can be searched for by smartphones and other master devices, and and connection attempts are received.
