📋 Overview

Your Arduino or Raspberry Pi GPIO pin can output 3.3V or 5V at a few milliamps — nowhere near enough to drive a DC motor, LED strip, solenoid valve, or pump directly. The IRF520 MOSFET Driver Module solves that. It uses an IRF520 N-channel power MOSFET as an electronic switch, letting a single microcontroller pin control DC loads up to 24V and 5A. Wire it up, send a HIGH signal, and your load turns on. Send a LOW signal, and it turns off. Connect SIG to a PWM pin and you get smooth LED dimming or variable motor speed control.

The module switches the ground side of your load (low-side switching), so the load's positive supply stays connected and only the return path is controlled. An onboard blue LED gives instant visual confirmation that the MOSFET is conducting. Screw terminal connectors on the load side mean no soldering required. This listing includes two modules.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Add a flyback diode for inductive loads. When switching DC motors, solenoids, or relays, always add a flyback diode across the load (cathode to V+, anode to V−). Without it, back-EMF voltage spikes when the load switches off can destroy the MOSFET. A 1N4007 diode works well for most applications.
  • Heat sink required above 1A continuous. For sustained loads above 1A, attach a small aluminium heat sink to the IRF520 MOSFET. Running above 1A without one will cause overheating and potential failure. Heat sink is not included.
  • DC loads only. This module is designed for DC loads only. Do not use it to switch AC mains voltage (120V/240V household power). For AC switching, use a relay module or solid-state relay.
  • Common ground is essential. The GND on the control header and the GND on the load screw terminals must be connected together. Without a shared ground the MOSFET will not switch reliably.
  • Low-side switch only. This module controls the negative/ground side of the load. It is not a high-side switch and cannot control the positive rail. For bidirectional motor control, use an H-bridge motor driver module.
