📋 Overview
This variable output boost power supply module accepts an input voltage from 5V to 32V and boosts it to any adjustable level from 6V to 48V. Based on the second-generation XLSEMI XL6009 chip, it delivers higher efficiency and superior performance compared to older first-generation LM2577-based boost converters. An onboard multi-turn potentiometer lets you dial in your exact target voltage with precision.
⚠️ Important: This is a boost (step-up only) converter — the output voltage must always be higher than the input voltage. Do not exceed 32V input or 48V output. This module does not include short-circuit protection — always install a fuse on the input side.

📌 Pinout
| Pad | Function |
|---|---|
| IN+ | Positive input — connect to DC power source positive (+) |
| IN− | Negative input — connect to DC power source negative (−) / ground |
| OUT+ | Positive output — connect to load positive (+) |
| OUT− | Negative output — connect to load negative (−) / ground |
🚀 Getting Started
- Connect your DC power source (5V–32V) to the IN+ and IN− pads.
- With the output disconnected, attach a multimeter to OUT+ and OUT− (DC voltage mode).
- Turn the onboard potentiometer to set your desired output voltage (clockwise = increase, counter-clockwise = decrease).
- Connect your load to OUT+ and OUT−, then verify the voltage under load and fine-tune if needed.
💡 Tip: See our complete User Guide for detailed wiring diagrams, pinout tables, troubleshooting tips, and best practices.
🎯 Applications
- Boosting battery voltage for portable electronics and field equipment
- Powering LED strips and LED drivers requiring higher voltages
- Stepping up 12V automotive power to 24V+ for accessories
- Adjustable bench power supply from a fixed DC source
- Solar panel voltage boosting for charge controllers
- Powering motors, solenoids, and relays that need higher supply voltage
- DIY and hobby electronics projects
⚠️ Important Notes
- This is a boost-only converter — output voltage must always be higher than input voltage (minimum ~1.5V difference).
- No short-circuit protection — always install an inline fuse on the input side.
- No reverse polarity protection — connecting input with reversed polarity will permanently damage the module.
- For loads exceeding 1A at high boost ratios, add a heatsink to prevent thermal shutdown.
- Efficiency decreases at extreme boost ratios — keep Vout ÷ Vin below 4:1 for best results.
