📋 Overview
The 4.5-30V DC Two-Wire Panel Mount LED Digital Voltmeter is a compact, no-fuss voltage monitoring device designed to give you a clear, bright reading of your battery or power supply voltage at a glance. It uses just two wires — connect red to positive and black to negative — and it powers itself directly from the circuit being measured. No separate power supply, no sense wire, no extra components needed.
This voltmeter is a great fit for monitoring battery and charging voltage in cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, and RVs. It's equally at home in solar power systems, custom electronics projects, power supply test benches, or anywhere you need a reliable DC voltage readout in the 4.5V to 30V range. It comes in your choice of Red, Green, or Blue LED display color to suit your panel layout or personal preference.

🔌 Wiring / Connections
Wiring this voltmeter is as simple as it gets. There are only two wires:
| Wire Color | Connect To | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Red | Positive (+) | Battery or power supply positive terminal |
| Black | Negative (−) / Ground | Battery or power supply negative terminal |
The voltmeter draws its operating power directly from the circuit it is measuring. Once both wires are connected to a voltage source of 4.5V or above, the display will light up and show the voltage immediately. No additional wiring, no configuration, no calibration required.
⚠️ Warning: Never connect this voltmeter to a voltage source exceeding 30V DC. Doing so may permanently damage the unit. This meter is not suitable for 36V or 48V battery systems.
🚀 Getting Started
Step 1 — Prepare Your Panel Cutout
Cut a rectangular opening in your panel, dashboard, or enclosure measuring 46 mm × 26.5 mm (approximately 1.81" × 1.04"). The bezel lip on the front of the voltmeter will overlap the cutout edges on all sides, giving a clean finished appearance. A step drill bit, hole punch, or rotary cutting tool works well for this step.
Step 2 — Insert the Voltmeter
Thread the two wires through the panel cutout from the front, then press the voltmeter body into the hole from the front. The bezel flange rests flush against the panel surface. For a more secure installation, a small bead of silicone adhesive or a rear mounting clip (not included) can be used to hold the body in place.
Step 3 — Connect the Wires
Connect the Red wire to the positive (+) terminal of your voltage source and the Black wire to negative (−) / ground. The display will illuminate as soon as voltage above 4.5V is applied.
Step 4 — Read the Display
The voltmeter adjusts its decimal point position automatically based on the measured voltage:
- Below 10V: Display shows two decimal places (e.g., 8.45) — minimum resolution 0.01V
- 10V and above: Display shows one decimal place (e.g., 12.6) — minimum resolution 0.1V
This auto-scaling behavior ensures you always get the most meaningful reading for the voltage range in use.
Note: If the measured voltage drops below approximately 5V, the display brightness will visibly dim. This is normal — the meter is simply operating near the lower end of its power supply range. The measurement accuracy is not affected.
💡 Tips
Automotive Battery Monitoring
This voltmeter is an ideal addition to a car, truck, motorcycle, or RV dashboard. Here are some handy reference voltage ranges for a standard 12V lead-acid battery:
- 13.7V – 14.7V: Charging normally (engine running / charger connected)
- 12.6V – 12.8V: Fully charged at rest
- 12.0V – 12.4V: Partially discharged — consider recharging soon
- Below 12.0V: Discharged or possibly failing battery
Solar and Off-Grid Applications
Mount this voltmeter on your battery enclosure, charge controller panel, or solar system junction box to monitor your 12V or 24V battery bank at a glance. It works with lead-acid, AGM, gel, and lithium battery chemistries — the voltmeter just reads voltage, so battery chemistry doesn't matter.
Extending the Wires
The pre-attached wires are approximately 200 mm (7.8") long. If you need more length, solder an extension wire of the same or heavier gauge and protect the joint with heat-shrink tubing or electrical tape to prevent shorts.
Neat Panel Installation
For the cleanest panel cutout, use a step drill bit to start the corners and a Dremel tool with a cutting wheel to complete the rectangular opening. File or sand the edges smooth before inserting the voltmeter for the best fit and appearance.
🚫 Limitations
- DC voltage only: This meter measures DC voltage in the range of 4.5V to 30V only. It cannot measure AC voltage, current, resistance, or any other electrical parameter.
- Maximum 30V: Applying more than 30V DC will damage the unit. It is not suitable for 36V, 48V, or higher voltage systems.
- Low voltage dimming: Below approximately 5V, the display brightness will dim noticeably. Readings below 4.5V are outside the rated range and may not display at all.
- Not weatherproof: The unit has no IP-rated weather or dust protection. For outdoor or harsh-environment use, install it inside a weatherproof enclosure.
- Not a precision instrument: Accuracy is rated at 1% ±1 digit, which is suitable for most battery monitoring and general voltage checking tasks. For precision measurements, use a calibrated bench multimeter.
- No data output: This is a display-only device. It does not have any digital output, logging capability, or communication interface.
