Hookup & Operating Notes
Power Supply Sizing: Ensure your input power source can deliver the full power required by your load. The converter will fold back output voltage if input power is insufficient.
Example: If your 5V load draws 8A (40W) but your 12V input supply can only provide 2A (24W), the converter will reduce output to 3V (24W ÷ 8A = 3V).
Wiring:
- Input (8-36V DC): Red wire = +V, Black wire = -V 18 AWG minimum (use thicker gauge for runs over 50 cm)
- Output (5V DC): Yellow wire = +V, Black wire = -V 16 AWG minimum (use thicker gauge for runs over 50 cm)
- For wire runs exceeding 50cm (20"), use heavier gauge wire to compensate for voltage drop
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated
