📋 Overview

The CSC-H64 gives your serial equipment a direct line onto your network. This 4-port device server converts RS232, RS422, and RS485 signals to Ethernet or Wi-Fi, so meters, controllers, access panels, and other serial gear can be monitored and managed remotely over TCP/IP. It ships with a built-in Soft AP mode, which means you can connect a laptop or smartphone directly to the CSC-H64 for setup even when no wireless router is around. Built for tough environments, it's rated for a -40°F to +185°F (-40°C to +85°C) operating range and includes overvoltage, reverse-voltage, and overcurrent protection.

🔌 Connectivity & Communication Modes

Each serial port on the CSC-H64 can be set up independently in one of four modes:

  • TCP Server — the CSC-H64 waits for an incoming connection from your server or PC
  • TCP Client — the CSC-H64 reaches out and connects to your server automatically
  • AT Command mode — control connections using familiar modem-style AT commands, with support for both active and passive connections
  • UDP mode — connectionless communication for one-to-many or many-to-many device networks

Wireless LAN and wired Ethernet cannot be used at the same time — the CSC-H64 will use whichever connection (USB Wi-Fi adapter or Ethernet cable) is present.


🔒 Security Features

For wireless deployments, the CSC-H64 supports WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, and WPA-Enterprise (EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS, PEAP) authentication. For network-level protection, you can restrict access by IP address or MAC address, require a password for Telnet login and configuration changes, and enable SSL encryption for secure TCP data transmission.

SSL mode cannot be used together with IPv6, and it limits serial communication speed to 115,200bps.


🚫 Important Notes

  • A USB Wi-Fi adapter using a Ralink RT3070 or RT5370 chipset is required for wireless operation and is not included — this unit ships as an Ethernet/serial device server, with wireless as an add-on capability.
  • Wireless LAN and wired Ethernet are mutually exclusive; only one can be active at a time.
  • The industrial -40°C to +85°C temperature rating applies only when operating without a USB Wi-Fi adapter attached.
